About Tri-State Troopers Fund, Inc.
The Tri-State Troopers Fund, Inc. Is a not-for-profit corporation organized by a group of state troopers from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
The concept for the Tri-State Troopers Fund, Inc. Grew from the annual PA/NJ/NY Troopers Bridge Dinner in Memory of Tpr. Scott M. Gonzalez #5059 NJSP.
While in pursuit of a suspect, Gonzalez made the ultimate sacrifice. The suspect killed him on the evening of October 24, 1997
Following this tragic loss, in February 1998, a group of Pennsylvania and New Jersey State Troopers joined together in order to render support to his widow Maureen and to celebrate the great life and work of Gonzalez. Eleven years later, the candle remains lit as state troopers and their families from New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are honored each year for their commitment and sacrifice.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
While we feel obligated to render support to our brethrens’ families, we are also vested in maintaining a relationship with them. Their spouses’ made the “ultimate sacrifice” and in doing so, they have made a sacrifice no family should be forced to visit.
For that reason, we believe it is important for us to stay connected with them. Therefore, we send greetings for holidays, birthdays and other life events, as well as, welcome them to all of our events with open arms.
OUTREACH INITIATIVES
Each day, our municipal and state police sacrifice their own safety in order to maintain that peace and justice remains the keystone of our society.
In protecting the public, each day police experience stress in unthinkable amounts. For that reason, in order to assist them in combating that stress, we provide a variety of social, educational and athletic outreach initiatives.
SCHOLARSHIPS
We recognize that a college education is vital in improving the quality of life of a person. Therefore, for those interested in entering the field of law enforcement, we are vested in helping them achieve their goal with a scholarship made available though the Criminal Justice Department of Northampton Community College.
